Dr. Putu Agus Ardiana is a Lecturer in Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia, where he has served since 2005. He teaches a wide range of accounting courses delivered in both Indonesian and English and is a Chartered Accountant (CA) of Indonesia.
Dr. Ardiana earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Best Graduate, 2004) and Master’s degree in Financial Management (Best Graduate, 2006) from Udayana University. In 2009, he completed a dual Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Adelaide, Australia, graduating with distinction. In the same year, he was awarded lifetime membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society, University of Adelaide Chapter.
He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting from Durham University Business School, United Kingdom, in January 2022. His doctoral thesis, “Stakeholder Engagement in Sustainability Reporting in Indonesia,” was awarded an Unconditional Pass, the highest level of doctoral recognition signifying successful defence without any revisions.
Dr. Ardiana’s research explores diverse aspects of social and environmental accountability, particularly in the context of sustainability reporting and related disclosure practices. His work has been published in internationally refereed journals, including the Journal of Accounting & Organizational Change; Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies; Public Money and Management; Australian Accounting Review; Meditari Accountancy Research; Pacific Accounting Review; and Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting; among others. His research has also been presented at international conferences, where he received the Best Presentation Award at the University of Hull PhD Conference (UK, 2017).
He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), awarded by Advance HE, United Kingdom, and has reviewed more than 30 manuscripts for reputable peer-reviewed journals. He serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for several high-impact international journals, including Business Strategy and the Environment; Business Ethics: A European Review (now Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility); Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management; Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal; Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies; Managerial Finance; among others.
